THE LANDING
The landing took place on the june 6 1944, the atlantic wall was easiliy breached, and the german reinforcements that could throw the allies back to the sea were prevented from arriving by the overwhelming allied air superiority that destroyed the communications. But a fast penetration into French soil didn`t occured due to the rough nature of terrain that facilitated the german defense.
